🍵 Vegan Tulsi Masala Chai Recipe with Garden Holy Basil
🌱A creamy, soul-soothing and plant-based blend of tea, spices, and 5 types of tulsi (holy basil) from the garden.
I really cherished testing this recipe. I grow tulsi (Indian holy basil), every year, and it’s such a special and remarkably aromatic herb. These plants have sacred and ceremonial significance in India, and I’m grateful to plant them, watch them thrive, and enjoy their enthralling scents every year.
In my post, I share the 5 types of tulsi I’ve added to this recipe: camphor kapoor, krishna, rama, temperate, and vana. Each one has its own special fragrance, color, and growth habit to contribute to this time-honored tea drink. (You could use just one or any blend of tulsi varieties to make this yourself.)
For this inviting tulsi masala chai, I’ve used black tea and added an invigorating and soothing blend of spices, non-dairy milk, jaggery (or sugar), and the tulsi leaves. I’ve steeped them all together to create a heartwarming, sweet, and creamy cup of love. I hope you’ll grow some tulsi in your herb garden and try this drink that’s deeply delicious and rewarding.
